IW Council Do A Great Job: Appeal

Friday, 11th July, 2008 at 8:00 am, Isle of Wight

There are a few people who think that VentnorBlog are down on the IW council, we’re not.

super smileyWe know that there’s hundreds of people at the council who are doing their very best to provide the best possible service to the people of the Island.

Clearly there are a few parts of the council who don’t appear to be keeping to the same high standards, like some people in the (non-) communications department and planning … but this post isn’t about them … this is about celebrating the great things that the council does.

We’d love to hear about positive experiences that you’ve had with employees of the IW Council. You know the idea.

For example, we were highly impressed with the council’s waste management people who did a great job around the surrounding area during the Festival.

They were right on top of it, with nay a piece of litter in sight, creating a great impression for visitors of how lovely the Island can be - as they do on a weekly basis around the Wight.

So come on, get your fingers on the keyboard and knock out a little piece about your last great experience with council staff.

Drop it over to us, and we’ll look at putting it out for others to see.

I think the recycling centre at Robin Hill is very efficient and have found the staff helpful

I visit the Isle of Wight Council Help Centre at Falcon Cross Hall in Shanklin every Monday to buy my green waste bags and I find the staff (Mick and Sandra) to be most helpful and friendly. They sorted out my bus pass, my car parking permit and my council tax. I even get free doggy sacks for my pooch! Keep up the good work.

The council’s website - http://www.iwight.com is without doubt the best on the Island; packed full of really useful information for residents and visitors alike. There’s also some superb coverage of all the big Island events including a wicked Bestival photo gallery which is well worth a look. The forum pages are good also.

I agree that the iwight website is a good source for information, but disagree about the forum.

It needs to be better presented. Having to refresh the page to see each reply is a right pain. I much prefer the layout of other Island forums, which make it easy to read all responses.

I’m with Maggie on this one. I like the council web site and it’s great to be able to find info about council services so easily, but struggle to have the patience for the forum.
