Vintage bus buffs will already have this event scratched into their diaries.

Coming up next month is the October Running Day. If you head for the Museum down on the Newport Quay you’ll have a treat in store for you, as the museum opens it’s doors and welcomes buses from around the UK.
Enjoy the wonderful sight of vintage buses and even get a chance to ride on one.
The admission charge (yet to be confirmed) will ensure entry to the museum as well as a ride around the Island on one of the participating buses.
The permanent collection ranges from a 1889 tram car and a 1927 Daimler, as well as more recent examples.
Normal entry charges will apply, i.e. £4.00 for adults, £3.50 for senior citizens and £2.50 for children but free admission will be given to any one purchasing a programme, priced at £4.50.
These will be available on the day from the museum.
Visit the Museum’s Web site for more info.

Hope the weather holds out for this event - I was lucky enough to take a trip on one of the open top buses earlier in the year. It was lovely.

Ditto, Margo. Trust me, it’s no fun trying to conduct on an open top bus in the rain!
A lot of work goes on behind the scenes organising this event, we just hope everyone who attends enjoys the day and gets a flavour of what public transport was like in the past.
