Invent-nor Walk Like An E-gyp-tian
Monday, 24th July, 2006 at 9:39 pm, Isle of Wight
Well done to the InVent-nor Carnival Group who managed to dance away with Highly Commended in the large groups category on Sunday’s Mas-sive Carnival Gala at Smallbrook Stadium.
It was a great day, the sun was shining heavily, lots of great calypso music and wonderful displays of carnival costumes from all around the island.
Sadly we didn’t get there in time to watch the Ventnor group strut their stuff, but are looking forward to seeing them at the Ventnor Carnival on 16th August (5pm start) - book it in your diaries - illuminated version on the Saturday (19th).
All the costumes were made at Neighbourhood Learning in Ventnor workshops, held over the last few weeks and follow an Egyptian theme. The tutors were Gina Dyer, Sonia Cockburn and Hannah Ray.
They look brilliant and from the shots (thanks Alison) everyone looks to be thoroughly enjoying themselves. Well done for the award and well done for representing Ventnor at this fast-growing event.
There are (or will be) more photos on the VentnorBlog Flickr Group
