Inspired by Wight Art Exhibition

Tuesday, 5th August, 2008 at 1:54 pm, Isle of Wight

12, August 2008 10:00 amto22, August 2008 5:00 pm

The beautiful sub-tropical vista of Ventnor Botanic Garden is a befitting backdrop for an exhibition entitled ‘Inspired by Wight’.

Inspired by Wight - Andrew DowdenPaintings and ceramics inspired by the Island will be exhibited in the Echium Terrace Room by artists Daphne Ellman, Margaret Plant, Carolyne Viney and Susana Watts, with pottery by Annette Chatting and ceramics by Andrew Dowden.

Not surprisingly the Island’s unique shoreline provides a constant and ever-changing source of inspiration for the artist’s palette.

Rolling downs, river valleys, and even tracks scoring the landscape give life to fresh ideas.

The surface textures and patterns of Andrew Dowden’s hand-carved ceramic forms are inspired by ploughed fields and imprints in soil and sand of rainwater rivulets cascading down hillsides.

The exhibition runs from 12 to 22 August from 10am to 5pm daily with free admission.
