HantsWeb Awards: VentnorBlog Shortlisted!
Wednesday, 10th September, 2008 at 3:25 pm, Isle of Wight
Returning home from a very muddy, but excellent time away at Bestival (check out the live video at Bestival), we were met by a very exciting email from the HantsWeb Awards team.
As you will know dear reader, we were thrilled to be nominated for the awards last month and were really chuffed to hear that VentnorBlog is the only Island publication to be shortlisted as one of the ten Best Local Area Websites over the whole of Hampshire and the Isle of Wight. Yikes!
The finalists will be announced in mid-October, with the award ceremony taking place in November, so we’re keeping everything crossed (which makes it more than a little difficult to type) for a positive outcome.
Thanks again to everyone for your continued support and especially to those who nominated us.
Congratulations to the other organisations from the Island who also feature in the shortlists. We’ll endeavour to tell more about them on VentnorBlog over the coming days.

Many congratulations VB - having reviewed the opposition you are surely going to win, and even if they perversely deny you it, getting on the shortlist is a real achievement - and a free lunch.
See how few Island websites are in the shortlist - I see only four at a glance, of which one (Branstone Farm) is surely a mistake - the website hasn’t been updated since 2007 and as far as I know it’s not really an active centre any more.
So you’ll be in a very select band - along with the Isle of Wight Council of course - carrying all our best wishes to bring back a trophy for the Island!

Good luck! VB is such an excellent site and resource and you give it so much time, care and attention. You deserve to win.
