Changing the water flow through Flowersbrook would screw up a lot of small beasts that actually live at the cliff base on the outrun of the stream - some of which are actually quite rare nationally. So its a case of tidy up rather than pond expansion please. :( :(

Hello playmates

Delighted to (belatedly) see all the debate on Flowersbrook on this post. I endorse the majority view about the boardwalk - it would look a little incongruous, plus no doubt someone would expect 'them' to look after it (that would be me, then), and from my experience of managing a 1200m wooden boardwalk (inland) at Wicken Fen some years ago I can confidently assert that boardwalks take a lot of management, including regular inspections and repairs. Exposed to the sea down on that tumultuous shore... well, I can think of a few better things to spend £7K per annum on. And yes, I just made that figure up, but it's a well informed guess.

Now, Flowersbrook. Yes, that's me too. If anyone's serious about doing some work down there as a volunteer, we would be delighted to hear from you, and could possibly assist with insurance, tools, etc. It is quite a sensitive area as Waspman quite rightly said, so we would not have carte blanche to do absolutely anything... but nonetheless, there is plenty that could be done there and elsewhere in that area, and we'd be pleased to facilitate it.

Interested? Contact me at the IW Council (next week now as I'm on leave this week).

If, NO when Flowers brook is enhanced, can I suggest that an "expert" in these things is used to draw up a plan that all can work too. Wooden road, sorry, with cliff erosion, it just wouldn't be safe either from above or below unless money was thrown at it big time which would completely change what is there now.
