There has been much talk about the Isle of Wight becoming an Eco Island, with others following suit around the globe.
At the end of this month, a free event is being organised by the Isle of Wight Council on behalf of the Island Strategic Partnership.
The aim of the event is to ‘place the Island firmly on the international stage’.
During the one day conference, ‘Eco Island’ - the Sustainable Community Strategy, will be launched outlining the council’s vision for 2020 and their plans for how they will make it happen.
In the afternoon, there will be free sessions for operations and business managers who would like to get practical advice about reducing the carbon footprint of their business.
There is a great lineup of speakers confirmed for the day including
- Ellen MacArthur, OBE
- Sir Ghillean Prance, the Eden Project
- Sir Terry Farrell, Isle of Wight design champion
- David Taylor, CEO Sustainable Energy Ireland
- Professor Bill Wakeham, University of Southampton
- The Rt Revd Dr Kenneth Stevenson, Bishop of Portsmouth
For more information about the conference and to register for free, visit the official Eco-Island website.
