David Pugh Encourages Ventnor’s Planning Questions For Monday
Thursday, 22nd November, 2007 at 3:44 pm, Isle of Wight
Good to hear David Pugh on IW Radio mid-day today telling the listeners that “Planning is of the big issues for us as a council that we must get right.”
This was in response to a call from a concerned Ventnor resident, Don, who covered the problems that he’d been having with an inconsiderate neighbour who has developed his property well beyond the planning permission that he’d been granted.
Council leader, Clr Pugh, reminded the radio audience that Bill Murphy, head of planning will be coming along to the Winter Gardens on Monday evening and that “There’ll be an opportunity to ask question there, so I encourage you to go along to that.”

I would venture to suggest that the T.C meeting should be held downstairs in the big hall, such will be the rush to attend this epic occasion.
Anyone wishing to attend should wear some white overalls in case any of the anticipated whitewash spills over onto the members of the council tax payers as it usually does.
It occurs to me that one very good question would be “Is there ANY limit to the number of retrospective applications that can be made by one applicant or is it as many as is needed to last out the four years necessary to make the development immune from enforcement”?
I heard from the concerned resident that only pre-booked questions would be answered.
Hows that for democracy?

Very pertinent question, Freddy. Especially in the light of what has been happening on the seafront. I’m sure those of us who’ve been writing lettters every couple of months would like to have the definitive answer to that one. Can you send it in/ prebook it whatever or ask Simon what is the procedure?

Oldie, as far as I am aware there have been no developments on the seafront which have used the retrospective strategy, unless the one for the removal of a condition on one of the Metropole apartments is counted. I think that was for an electrically operated blind or something like that.
I will endeavour to get that question put to Mr. Murphy, although I would not hold your breath for any definitive answer. The length of a piece of string springs to mind!
