The Country Kitchen is a fantastic Delicatessen situated on Ventnor High Street and has been part of the local community for many years.
Owner for the last three years, Wim Stoorvogel - a dutch man who obviously knows his stuff, has created a little slice of heaven in Ventnor, by stocking some wonderful gourmet items, as well as day to day groceries.
Each morning when he arrives at the shop he bakes the bread and pastries ready for the day.
You can find fresh meats and cheeses imported from Holland, as well as local butter and milk. There are biscuits, chocolates, a huge range of Pataks curry pastes, sauces, and some wonderful soups, including the traditional Dutch ones as well as such delights such as Turkey and Cranberry - there’s something to get your taste buds going.
The shop also carries a great range of teas, coffees and fresh coffee beans which you can take home as they are, or have ground on the premises.
With the table and chairs placed comfortably within the shop, why not take a pew and sample the fresh coffee for yourselves along with a freshly filled baggette and pastry?
Wim believes it is important to listen to his customers, so following a survey last year, he now stocks more gluten free items, including flour, biscuits, cakes, pasta as well as many soya products too.
Wim always stocks special items for Christmas and as he regularly pops back to Holland to pick up new products he thinks you might like, it’s worth visiting the shop on a regular basis.

Good report, but the country kitchen has been there for as long as i remember, over 10 years at least under different owners before, selling simalar bits and bobs

Cheers, what I meant was that Wim had been there for 3 years, but will change the wording to make it clearer.

Thanks for reminding me about this place, haven’t been in for ages, but will definitely take a look at the weekend. Last time I was in there I bought the most amazing apple strudel. Best I’ve ever had, didn’t realise that he must have baked it that morning himself.

This is my daddy`s shop!! Wauw am I proud of him. He has been working his ass off the last 3 years and this for a 63 year old man! And as I have visited him the last 3 years I have helped him with his “Kitchen” and arranged with him more products to provide the local people with. He now has more tidbits, glutenfree products and Dutch treats then ever. I am therefor very pleased to see an item of his shop on the Ventnor blog.
Go daddy!
