Council Cares For Evacuated Whippingham Residents: IW Council Positive Story

Good to hear that the IW council has been taking care of those who have been affected by the potentially dangerous fire in Whippingham, East Cowes.
The residents, who had to leave their homes to ensure their safety, have been looked after by the council at the Riverside centre, Newport.
Sarah Mitchell, Director of Community Services told IW Radio that the people have been very happy. They’d given them cups of tea and fish & chips.
A couple who had left their medication in the house, which they weren’t able to return to, were run to hospital to get replacement medication.
The activities had been managed by the IW Housing team in conjunction with the emergency services.
Great to see this part of the council stepping up and helping our the residents at what must be a stressful time.
