Kosmik Debris Play IW Festival

The final of the battle of the bands took place at Medina last night and Ventnorian teenagers, Kosmik Debris wowed the judges sufficiently to take first place.
We are bowled over for the 15 and 16 year olds from Ventnor who we first saw play a couple of years ago at the Ventnor Youth Centre, when the music suite was officially opened.
They went on to play at the Ventnor Day Festival in 2006 and we hear have gone from strength to strength.
The band are made up of James Thorpe lead on guitar, Sam Lawson on bass, Sean Barker on rhythm and Rob Berry on drums.
Their prize for being such great musicians is to play at the Isle of Wight Festival 2008, sharing the lineup with the Kaiser Chiefs and the Sex Pistols.
Well done lads, another great export from Ventnor!

That is fantastic news. Jamie Thorpe is a smashing lad and his mum gave us a copy of their CD only last Saturday.

Just wanted to say how proud I am of Rob & the lads.
They truely deserve this as they’ve worked so hard. I think its amazing that a group of 15-16 yr olds have made it to the IW Festival, it just shows how talented they all are. Well done lads, I’ll be on the front row!
