Ventnorians and those visiting the blessed town, don’t forget that the High St in Shanklin is now closed in both directions between the traffic lights at the top of the hill and Eastcliff Road. Diversions are in place.

Southern Gas Networks are digging the road up as they’re replacing the gas main.

Guess there’s lots to be done as the works will be running until the Friday 28 November - and then again between Monday, 5 January and approx Thursday, 9 April 2009!

It looks like the areas affected will be moving over the period, so we’ve been in touch with their press office to try and lock down the details. Updates when we get them.

The 21st anniversary Botanic Garden auction raises an impressive £837 for 20 items.

A record was reached - £230 for single item an Agave attenuata.

Sandown skate park opening went really well. Loads of people there. Tons of Sun.

Sushi Kev has been providing the healthy option up in the village. Good reviews from everyone leaving. Well done mate!

Wandering through the western reaches of town today, we noticed that the steps at La Falaise car park down to sea seem to have disappeared.

I suppose the wall lizards will be left in peace.
