Beach Soccer: The Bees Are Crowned UK Champions 2008

The Bees finished top of the first ever National Beach Soccer Super League and went on to win the UK Superfinal Cup last weekend in Jersey, 23-24th August, smashing the Knights 8-1 in the final.
The Bees had a great trip to Jersey and their beach soccer skills were shown to everyone watching in St. Hellier and will be on Nuts TV in September.
Their dedication was rewarded with success in retaining their title ‘UK Champions’ for the 5th year in a row.









The conditions weren’t ideal, we missed a few chances and were a bit complacent at the back but we did play some good beach soccer and in the end two good victories sealed the National Super League title with one event remaining before the UK Superfinal.
The Bees are one of the five teams on the National Tour Super League this summer and will go to four of five tournaments on the South coast showcasing the best players in the country fighting for a place in the Superfinal Cup at the end of August in Jersey, where the winners will be crowned ‘UK Champions’ and get a chance to play against the England team.

They certainly made up for missing out on any trophies this year, as they will now be representing England in the European Club Tour next summer.
One event that made my ears prick up, is the beach soccer game between the England squad and the Council’s Fostering Service.
John Hawkins, who is President of England Beach Soccer, will be making a presentation at the meeting on the proposed plans and will be answering questions from the public afterwards.
