Official Press Release From Isle of Wight Council
Isle of Wight Council has published a list of meetings which form part of the local authority’s formal consultation on its final proposals for school reorganisation.
Meetings for parents of schools that are proposed for either closure, federation or amalgamation will be held over the next few weeks, and meetings at other schools will be held in September.

Director of Environment and Neighbourhoods Stuart Love said “We have been made aware that a man claiming to be an Isle of Wight Council dog warden has been approaching dog walkers in parks in Ventnor asking for them to pay an on the spot fine. This man does not work for the council.

Isle of Wight Council has cancelled the ‘Moon Walk’ event on Saturday 3 May which forms part of the 2008 Isle of Wight Walking Festival. The event has been replaced with a different walk, titled ‘Breast Foot Forward’.
The council has cancelled the Moon Walk after it inadvertently infringed intellectual property rights of another organisation. (more…)

The life of Oscar-winning filmmaker Anthony Minghella is to be celebrated at a thanksgiving service in Newport on Saturday April 26.
The service is being organised by the Isle of Wight Council with the agreement of Mr Minghella’s family. Mr Minghella was born in Ryde and remained a passionate ambassador for his native Island throughout his illustrious career.
In 1997 he was made a Freeman of the Island by the council in recognition of his achievements.
