Bembridge Beaux Arts will also be taking part in the Open Studios event this year with their exhibition extended through til Tuesday next week.

Bembridge Beaux ArtsI, Holly, set up the Bembridge Beaux Arts five years ago, initially as a one day event, but after its success in year one, it became a three day exhibition with a private view on the Saturday night prior to opening.

Great turn out from the pubic. The hall is totally full, barely standing room only.

__Question from the public on the floor

Save Ryde Theatre - Show Your Support Tonight

Jul 10, 2007 in Bembridge, Politics, Ryde

If you’ve ever been given the chance to perform at Ryde Theatre or been to see a gig there, tonight is the last chance that you have to help save this much needed venue.

Save Ryde Theatre - Your Support Needed At Meeting TonightIts future is being decided at a Council Cabinet meeting at Bembridge Village Hall from 6pm onwards (why so far away?).

Reading through the notes for the meeting, I see that a recent Theatres Review, stated that with the right management and investment to refurbish the site, The Venue (Ryde) could make an operational profit for the Council. Almost every gig I’ve been to there (and that has been many over the past two years) has seen a packed theatre. If this venue goes, there’ll be nowhere else to see live music on the same scale.

Wouldn’t it be sad to have to tell our kids in 10-20 years time that the beautiful building on Lind Street was once a brilliant music venue and theatre, which gave talented Island musicians an opportunity to showcase themselves and promote the Isle of Wight to a wider audience.
