Brading SuperLoos Damage: More Details

Following our news yesterday of the smashing of the SuperLoo in Brading, we spoke to Patrick Joyce, IW councillor for the Brading and St Helen’s, who reflected the feeling of many, “What would drive people to carry out mindless vandalism like this?”
The IW Council has confirmed the damage included the local artwork as well as the urinals, days after they had opened.
We understand that the men’s section of the toilet was open 24 hours a day and had been designed with vandal-resistant materials including moulded resin. On that point, Cllr Tim Hunter-Henderson commented that “when someone goes into toilet late at night with a large hammer or a sledgehammer they are always going to cause destruction.”
Sadly the men’s toilet will be closed while repairs are carried out.
Appeal for information
Local police officer Sergeant Rick Davidson said: “This is an act of mindless vandalism, which has resulted in the closure of a valuable community asset.”
Police are appealing to residents and tourists to provide assistance, in particular anyone who saw a vehicle being driven away from the area towards Ryde at around half past midnight on Wednesday, 2 July.

If they catch whoever did this, I sugest part of the punishment should be to clean them for a period of time, maybe 1 year
