Brading Geocaching Game Tomorrow
Monday, 17th December, 2007 at 3:12 pm, Isle of Wight
Matthew Chatfield, editor of award-winning Naturenet, regular restaurant reviewer on Matt & Cat’s Isle of Wight eating out guide, Parks and Countryside Manager for the Isle of Wight Council and occasional poster to the Ventnor Blog Forum (When does he get the time!) is hosting a Geocaching game tomorrow.
For those not tuned up on Geocaching, think of it as a treasure hunt, but utilising a hand-held GPS device. Using the GPS, you navigate yourself to a hidden location (the cache) where you find a waterproof box containing a logbook and some ‘treasure’. Once you’ve filled out the logbook, you can exchange a piece of the ‘treasure’ (think low value trinkets), if you replace it with something of a higher value.
All jolly good fun and a fantastic excuse (if you need one) of getting walking in the great outdoors. Wikipedia has more details.
There’s a fab, bright site. that will give you all of the background on the event.
Tomorrow’s event follow previous geocaching events in October and is supported by the Isle of Wight Economic Partnership along with the IW Council.
Meet at 2pm on Brading Downs where the Ice Cream van normally is.
