Bon Bon: Ventnor’s New Speciality Sweet Shop

Monday, 10th March, 2008 at 11:54 am, Isle of Wight

Bon Bon Speciality Sweet Shop To Open in VentnorAnyone walking down Pier Street over the last couple of weeks will have noticed French Affair clearing out their stock from the shop.

Our initial thought was that the shop was closing down, but we heard from Mark on Friday night that the owners, Carol and Steve have decided to change direction slightly.

One half of the shop will continue to stock the lovely French Affair items such as chandeliers, bedding, garden furniture etc, but the other half is now home to specialty hand made chocolates and old fashioned sweets.

We think this will be a great addition to the town, specialty shops attract visitors from around the Island as well as adding diversity to what the town has to offer.

Although the shop is still being fitted out, we popped in on Saturday morning to have a nose around. Being a chocoholic, I was particularly pleased to see the great range of handmade chocolates, all looking spectacular. Having sampled a few varieties at the weekend, can safely say they taste delicious and would make great gifts or a special treat.

Carol, Steve and June hope to be open officially by the Easter weekend. Make sure you pop in and offer your support - six exquisite chocs only cost £2 and if you’re buying them as a gift - they come in a super little box complete with bow.

Good luck Carol and Steve. There was talk on the Forum about what shops people would like to see in Ventnor. A good sweet shop was one of them. I will be visiting Bon Bon as soon as.

will their products rival paul young’s in camden passage, london?

my favourite paul’s `brew` : Marmite Guinness Ganache

Not a chocolate for the timid, this never-before-made blend has become a best seller.
