Big Day Out Frisbees Recalled

Monday, 8th October, 2007 at 4:20 pm, Isle of Wight

Isle of Wight Council, on behalf of the Family Information Zone (FIZ), has issued the following statement …

At the Big Day Out event held at the Isle of Wight Steam Railway in Havenstreet on Sunday October 7, five hundred fabric frisbees promoting the WightChYPS website were given away to visitors to the event.

Since the event, a member of the public who was given a frisbee has identified a problem with the metal ring frame which, if it comes loose, could potentially cause a danger to anyone using it.

We would not knowingly purchase anything that may pose a danger to anyone and these were bought in good faith from the manufacturers with the intention of providing a free gift for visitors to the Big Day Out. We have been assured by the manufacturers that the frisbees meet safety guidelines.

The frisbees are made of fabric in either red, yellow, green and white and have a metal ring covered by stitching around the outside. They are collapsible so they can fit into a small pouch.

We ask those who received the free frisbee to either return it to FIZ in Newport or Isle of Wight Council’s reception at County Hall, or to throw them away. The Family Information Zone apologises for any inconvenience caused.
