Avatars Now On The VB Forum
Monday, 26th November, 2007 at 2:29 pm, Isle of Wight
Hey! all of you VB Forum users … after quite a few requests for it, in particular from dear FarmersBoy, we’re pleased to announce that Forum members can now attach a small graphic to their profile.
In tech speak, it’s called an Avatar.
Once you’ve set it up, when you post to the VB boards, your chosen graphic will appear next to your posting.
The selection of what you choose to represent you is totally up to you, it may be a photo of you, or an object that you feel represents you, or something completely disconnected.
Any graphic is acceptable - within the bounds of decency and privacy, natch - but they must be a maximum of 80 pixels by 80px and not larger that 6KB.
How to do it
Edit/compose your avatar in your favourite graphics package and save it to your computer.
Edit your profile and scroll to the bottom of the screen to find the Avatar control panel.
Click on the Browse button (Marked ‘1′ on the graphic) to the right of ‘Upload Avatar from your machine:’, navigate on your computer to the graphic you’ve made and click OK.
When you’re back at the page, click on the ‘Submit’ button (Marked ‘2′ on the graphic).
That should be all done then. Just pop over to a forum where you’ve posted, and you should see your selected Avatar!
Avatar Gallery
There’s an ability to let people select from a gallery of pre-created avatars. We haven’t set these up as yet (just not enough time available!), but if you’re feeling the urge to contribute some, for other people to use, feel free to email them to us for inclusion at the normal address - VentnorBlog (at) gmail (dot) com. Those who do put graphics forward will be credited and we’ll link through to your site.
Have fun!
