April Snow Showers On The Wight
Monday, 7th April, 2008 at 4:39 pm, Isle of Wight
Hearing the reports of snow on the radio yesterday and seeing some of the pictures added to the VentnorBlog Flickr Group (like the one pictured here by MO-NIC-KE) and County Press from where were were in Ventnor, it was heard to believe.
In sunny Ventnor the sky was blue, the clouds light and fluffy and certainly far below the Downs, the closest we got to snow was about 10 minutes worth, which melted on contact with any surface.

My 6-year old son was excited to wake up to a white world, claiming he’d “never seen snow before” (forgetting the French skiing holiday when he was 4), and rushed out to make a snowman all of six inches high - which melted by 11am.
I bought a plastic toboggan in 1993 after a rare snowy spell when I lived in London, thinking it would come in handy again eventually. It’s still in the garage, unused!
