A Ramblers Ramblings ….

Wednesday, 9th November, 2005 at 12:01 am, Isle of Wight

When I was growing up, my parents (who I know read this blog, so sorry Mum and Dad for being negative about something that I now realise was actually quite good fun) used to drag my siblings and I around the country on weekends and schools holidays in pursuit of rambling heaven. I’m pretty sure I hated it at the time, probably mouthing such things as “when are we going to be there?”, “My legs hurt”, “I’m tired” and many other similar whines.

However, things have changed in the last 20 years. Now, not only do walking and walking festivals offer all round, major health benefits, but the Isle of Wight Walking Festival - the biggest walking festival in the UK – offers Speed Dating. On Saturday 13 May 2006 to be precise.

So if you’ve yet to meet your match, or looking for something different, get your boots on, be they kinky, muddy or otherwise! You never know what might happen. You might end up with aching calves, but hopefully, not an aching heart.

Speedating on walk sounds great. At least you might meet someone who believes you are keen on getting fitter. Takes the Festival to a whole new level, so good for the organisers! Why not a local walk to try it out, there are a lot of lonely people in Ventnor. It would be fun, and you never know something brilliant for a some people may come out it

[...] Spring is in the air and speed dating in a different format has arrived? As we reported back in November, the Isle of Wight Walking Festival have come up with the rather lovely idea of spreading some love whilst walking. [...]
