03, Apr 2009 in Conservation, Green Issues
Way back when the media started constantly referring to the recession, it was widely commented that one of the biggest mistakes that could be made in a recession was to turn our collective backs on sustainable issues.

With our trusty audio recorder in hand, we popped over to Rapanui HQ in Lake to find out just what’s so special about this Isle of Wight clothing company that’s been running for the last two years.
We have to say that we were mightily impressed with Rob and Mart Drake-Knight, not only with their can do attitude, but they seem to have thoroughly researched their chosen subject.

Rapanui: Eco Fashion We Like The Sound Of
20, Dec 2007 in Green Issues, Island-wide
Mart and Rob Drake Knight are two Island based brothers who really care about the world around them. They wanted to create a business that made a difference in environmental terms and set about trying to find environmentally sound clothing as an alternative to high street fashion.
The result is a clothing company called Rapanui.
They’ve started off with a fairly small product line, focusing on essential items such as boxers, vests and t-shirts, all made from eco-friendly, accredited fabrics. They only use 100% organic cotton, convergence cotton and sustainable coppiced bamboo (this is where you have to plant one for every one you cut down).
