Southern Water Will Tackle Leaks To Cut Water Wastage

Water leaks:If you’ve got a network of pipes that is 13,000km long, with millions of joints, you’re bound to get some leaks says Southern Water’s Director of communications, Geoff Loader.

He was just one of the people interviewed for tonight’s programme during which he explains how the company are working on finding and fixing the leaks.

According to the programme, last year Southern Water wasted an average of 96 million litres a day through leaks and ordered by Ofwat to return £5m to its customers for not reaching leakage reduction targets.

Geoff told BBC Inside Out South East, “Quite clearly we can’t go leaking water and not managing that situation and then ask customers to save water, that would simply be wrong.
