The weather forecast for the weekend is dry and mild, which will be welcome news for all those planning to take part in the annual Isle of Wight Hedgelaying Competition.

HedgelayingThis year the event takes place at New Barn Farm in Calbourne which was the same venue for last year’s Studio in the Woods event organised by Joseph Kohlmaier (see video below from the event).

The event takes place from 10am until 4pm and is organised by the Isle of Wight Hedgerow Group with support from Landscape Therapy, Hampshire and IW Wildlife Trust, the IW AONB Partnership, West Wight Landscape Partnership and the Isle of Wight Council.

Even if you’re not taking part, it’s a great event to pop along to (there is no charge).

There are displays, hot refreshments and plenty of excitement as the competitors get down to some serious cutting. Prizes are awarded at around 3.30pm.

See Events on The Wight for full details.
