Cllr Jonathan Bacon has just been in touch with VB to let us all know that there are major problems at Portsmouth Station this morning.

A power failure is causing a standstill at the station, with no trains running between there and Havant.

Cllr Bacon tells us that currently they aren’t able to provide buses so are actually putting people in taxis, with the queue currently standing at about 70-80 people.

It sounds like they’re doing what they can to help the situation, but with so many people looking to travel the place is a mess at the moment.

This follows on the heels of the major disruptions on Friday and over the weekend due to major gas leak in Fratton.

UPDATE 9:00 National Rail is reporting it as a broken down train (which could be due to having now electricity).

They list lines affected as First Great Western, Southern and South West Trains.

Their claims of 30 minute delays are somewhat at odds with the photos sent to us

You can follow the current situation on their site.

SWT say everything will be fixed by 1400 hrs.

FWIW there were delays of 2 hours coming into Portsmouth from the London side this morning as well. The usual comedy announcements and misinformation on the train, sadly.
