Royal HotelNext month Ventnor’s Royal Hotel will be taking part in centenary celebrations for the Michelin Guide.

First launched in 1911, the guide which was available from all the Michelin tyre dealers and hotels that were listed in it, was jam-packed with practical information about tyres, car engines, route and distances.

These days it’s better known for its guide to quality places to eat, with restaurants, pubs and bistros vying for the coveted Michelin Star.

Michelin joining the Royal Revival
The Royal is one of only 30 hotels featured in both the 1911 and 2011 guides and Michelin will be heading to Ventnor to take part in The Royal Revival, between 14-15th October.

The weekend invites you to relive the glamour of the 1920s, 30s, 40s and 50s with fantastic award-winning food, entertainment from The Bovril Sisters who will perform hits from the famous 30’s band, The Boswell Sisters, sightseeing tours on a vintage bus and live music from the popular jazz singer Liane Carroll (find out more).

There’ll even be a pop-up vintage shop where you can buy vintage goodies to take home with you.

William Bailey, owner of The Royal Hotel, said: 2It is such an honour to have the opportunity to celebrate the Michelin Guide’s centenary. Being one of only 30 in the UK is quite an achievement and we are even more delighted to be the only one on the Isle of Wight. We wanted to mark the centenary with a unique event and we are very much looking forward to celebrating with guests.”

If you can’t stretch to staying at the hotel for the weekend, why not get tickets to either the Friday or Saturday night events. They are open to non-hotel residents.
