Fort Walkers Rescued By Bembridge Inshore Lifeboat

It’s that time of year when at low tide, hundreds of residents and visitors, attempt to Bembridge walk.

Fort walk 2009We’ve always arrived a bit too late to complete it safely, and the four people who on Saturday night, were rescued by Bembridge Inshore Lifeboat, probably did the same.

At around 7.30pm, they found themselves stranded between number one and three buoys, so had to dial 999 to ask for help.

Landed at Silver Sands Beach
They were landed, rather damp and chilly, on Silver Sands Beach where Bembridge Coastguards were there to meet them.

It’s very tempting to try to do the fort walk (there are a couple of times a year), but as the four above learnt, you’ve got to get the timing right.

Thanks to the VB reader in Bembridge who send through the story lead.
