Will Wind Turbine Application Gather Support From Eco-Islanders?

On the day that Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change Chris Huhne visited the Isle of Wight, we thought it apt to remind readers that an application for a wind turbine farm near Thorley is currently open to public comment.

Cheverton Down Turbine Application Goes to AppealAround 390 comments have been lodged with the council about the application which has just a few days left in which to make your views known.

Given the comments are split over a number of pages, it’s hard to judge whether objections outweigh those in support, but there’s certainly a lot of both.

Several readers have recently mentioned to us about the number of solar panels on properties in Thorley, going on to say they’d imagine most would be in favour of renewable energy and wind farms.

You have until 5th August to add your comments on the application for five turbines, full details of which can be found on the IWC website.
