Emily tells us more about a recent appeal from the Cats Protection in Ryde. Ed
The Cats Protection in Ryde have reported that they are having a bit of a CATastrophe with the amount of cats and kittens in their shelter.
The waiting list is currently full and they’re desperately needing to re-home some of the felines, so the huge waiting list can be minimised and more cats sent to loving homes.
39 kittens and 37 cats needing loving homes
Jo from the Cats Protection said: “We are receiving calls daily asking us to help by taking in litters of kittens, cats and nursing mums. And we have to unfortunately turn some people away until we have the space”
“We need to raise awareness about getting your cat neutered. As the cat population is rising.”
The staff are urgently appealing to find new homes for the cats and asking cat owners to get their cat spayed or neutered.
They currently have 39 kittens and 37 cats so do pop along if you’re interested and don’t forget today where you heard about it.

What a change of topic for me! My wife and I have adopted three cats over the years from Cats Protection- come on folks, they do a wonderful job. Being partially disabled and spending most of my time indoors I certainly would not be without the 24/7 friendship of our current cat (he’s been with us for two and a half years now).

Would it be possible to show some photos of the kittens and cats available on VB as this would probably help finding them new homes.

Oh if only my landlord allowed pets! Meany! The perennial problem of people not getting cats neutered again though, exasperating.

It annoys me when Landlords refuse animals.A properly trained animal will not cause problems.Its the tenants who cause the problem.No offence to you EG.

No offence taken Mike and I agree, especially a cat. It’s unfurnished as well so I fail to see the problem. Even if the cat/ dog was badly behaved I can’t see them spreading graffiti on the walls! Still, if they could I’d be rich!

In my experience as a tenant with cat I always ask the agent/landlord upfront if they accept pets. Sometimes all they need is confirmation that the cat wont shred eveything in sight, is housetrained and treated against fleas. It usually means a larger tenancy deposit to counteract any problems following vacation of the property and also a clause requesting professional carpet cleaning following the tenancy end.

@Asite2c
you can see some of the CP cats waiting for adoption and a lot more info at:

I adopted a person in December and we are very happy. CP offer excellent support to adopters, and healthy cats with up-to-date inoculations. They also protect cats by vetting potential adopters and their homes.

All CP cats are neutered before being offered for adoption.

Try their website – http://www.cats.org.uk/what-we-do/neutering for advice. They do provide financial assistance with the costs under certain circumstances but remember they are a charity so if possible probably best to go direct to your vet which should cost in region of £80-£120. This would probably (hopefully!!) have been in your budget when you decided to get a moggy :)
