Steve Stubbings Becomes New Ventnor Mayor

On Monday evening Ventnor Town council elected a new Mayor.

Ventnor SignAs Debby Robinson retired from the role, Cllr Steve Stubbings accepted the position as Mayor of Ventnor for 2011/12.

Steve told VB, “I’m looking forward to it and I appreciate the vote of confidence from my fellow councillors. I recognise the challenges that face us in the year ahead as a town and as a council.

“Debby did an excellent job in steering us through some very choppy waters over the past twelve months with integrity and courage. She deserves great credit for a job well done.

“I love Ventnor. It’s a special place. I’ll continue to do everything in my power to keep it that way. And I’m naive enough to believe that, working together, we can!”

Councillor since 2009
Steve has been a town councillor for the Lowtherville Ward since 2009, defeating former councillor Val Taylor by 98 votes.

He missed out during the same elections on becoming county councillor for Ventnor West, defeated by just seven votes by Cllr Susan Scoccia.

We’re sure that Steve will make a fine Mayor for the town, which he clearly cares about passionately.
