The intrepid team of Metropolitan police that are swimming around the Isle of Wight have reached Ventnor.

Round Island Police Swim Reaches VentnorSetting off at 4:30pm from Cowes last night, they got in touch with VB this morning to let us know they’d progressed at far as Ventnor.

We called them again a short while ago to find out how they were progressing.

Speaking to Will Hughes who was on-board having a rest between his swimming sessions, we learnt that they were just outside Sandown, having passed Shanklin.

“There’s been quite a few ups and downs, as you’d expect on a trip like this,” Will told VB. He said that getting around The Needles in the middle of the night was challenging, with quite a few of the swimmers out of action due to motion and sea sickness.

Round Island Police Swim Reaches VentnorThe dark of the night was covered by just three of the swimmers out of the original team of eight.

Spirits sounds high on board and they hope to make it to the Royal Squadron in Cowes by about 8pm tonight.

Support them if you can
If you’re near-by, we’re sure they’d love to see you at the finish.

Isn’t it so very, very sad that all the usual names who spend so much time bickering over council issues at cabinet, moaning about who earns what and who said exactly what at whatever meeting and blah blah bleeding blah forget just how sodding lucky they really are – and yet this heartbreaking little girls plight and the brilliant police officers who are doing all they can to help her does not get one single response – NOT ONE!!! Hang your heads in shame all of you – stop moaning and think yourself so very damn lucky that you are not in the same situation as Robyn’s mum and dad, who my heart goes out to. As a dad to a beautiful little girl of nine, I couldn’t think of anything worse than what they are going through. I wish young Robyn a very long and very happy life. If any of you really do have a heart and do care and can forget about County Hall and Councillors for one moment – send in a blog to this item and wish Robyn all the luck and love in the world and thanks the “old bill” for their brilliant efforts. Lets see how many we get by the end of the weekend eh!!!
