£185,405 Pay Package: Who At IW Council Gets That Much?

You might think that the Chief Executive of the Isle of Wight council would receive the highest amount of money from the council. VentnorBlog has found out otherwise.

£185,405 Pay Package: Who At The Council Gets That Much?Way back in June 2008, VB exposed the amount of money that the IWC was planning to put aside to build the team to handle the roads PFI scheme. At that time the council generously projected that the PFI Programme Director would be paid £130,000 per year.

The total remuneration package has dwarfed that.

Full package details
The actual salary that PFI Programme Director, Jay Jayasundara, received in the year 2009-10 was £140,403.

On top of that he was given £15,517 in expense allowances. This is over 400% of that was given to any other member of the senior members of staff at IWC.

The costs for the council don’t end there as £29,485 was also paid into his pension pot in that year.

All of this brings his total remuneration package, including pension contributions, to £185,405. More than the chief executive of the council.

As yet it’s not 100% clear that the roads PFI scheme will go ahead, as despite saying that they’re “committed to it”, the current government haven’t made their final decision.
