As 2010 is the 40th anniversary of the 1970 Pop Festival held on Afton Down, it’s fantastic to see that Island photographer, Chris Weston’s three week complete photographic record of the festival will be on display at Quay Arts.

Chris WestonStarting this Thursday and running through until 5th July, the exhibition, Last Great Event, showcases Chris’ extensive collection of photographs.

He was one of only three full time electricians working on the site and had access to areas not available to the press or the general public, making his collection all the more special.

Chris has also published a book which features 20 full-colour photos and 132 black and white photos, as well as all of the Dave Roe festival art work in full colour, many of which have never been seen before.

The book will be for sale at a reduced price in the Quay Arts Craft Shop.

Chris, whose work is pretty spectacular, continues to photograph festivals to this day and we imagine he must have enough material for at least another book if not more.

We’d highly recommend this exhibition.
