After the Brading Waxworks / Experience closed its doors for the last time back in October 2009, many people were asking what would happen to the myriad of waxwork models that had entertained so many people over the years.
Yesterday, the question was answered. They’re going to be auctioned off at a sale in Dorchester, Dorset.
The Daily Mail ran the story with some eye-catching photos, in the process doing the sale no end of benefit of raising its profile. This is the kind of story that, if handled correctly, could go all around the world, because it’s so darn strange.
The sale will have over 250 lots and the auctioneer, Duke’s, is quoted as saying they’ll have no reserve.
As the Mail says, “Staff at Duke’s auction house in Dorchester say it is the most peculiar sale they have ever held” – you’re no kidding.
By the way it’s appearing in the Nationals with well-shot, amusing, interesting photos, this story is being properly PRd. A smart idea that will lead to the maximum value being returned for the sale.
