VentnorBlog Weekly News Discussion Podcast: Minghella Festival; Car Free Scheme; Eco Island; Pugh Investigation

Coming to you slightly later than usual, for those who have been enjoying our weekly news podcasts, here’s our latest edition.

VentnorBlog Weekly News Discussion Podcast: Minghella Festival; Car Free Scheme; Eco Island; Pugh InvestigationWe are very grateful to Mick Smith, Director of Quay Arts and Lois Prior from the Big Green Project for taking time out to join in our discussion about the weekly news.

Minghella Film Festival
We started by sharing our experiences of the Minghella Film Festival that took place last weekend.

There are some great anecdotes from the weekend and if you didn’t manage to catch any of the events this year, you’ll hopefully be encouraged to take part next year.

Houston … we have a problem
As we reached the end of that discussion we had a technical hitch (the software froze) and we had to abandon the discussion.

Very generously, Mick and Lois agreed to meet up again the next day, so about 20 mins into the recording you’ll notice a change in background sound and sadly, a drop in the quality of recording.

Background behind the Car Free Scheme
We moved onto the launch of the Car Free Scheme and Lois talked about how it came about, what it’s all about and how people can get involved.

This discussion moved smoothly onto Eco Island, green living and what we, as individuals, can do to help ourselves.

Pugh and local politics
The latest news regarding David Pugh was up next with the discussion leading onto local politics, parking permits, before moving back to green issues with Mick muting the idea of shop/eat only local for one day a year.

Could being a councillors be more like jury service? People from the general public are randomly selected to be in what are now political positions – avoiding the ‘beauty parade’ that elections can now be.

Oh, and a little bit about parking permits prices (again!)
