The 18th Annual IW Hedgelaying Competition returns next weekend, this year being hosted Mr and Mrs J Sheldon at Kings Manor Farm, Freshwater.

We’ve been going along to these events for a few years now and are always so impressed with the skill and dedication of those taking part.

Spectators are welcome throughout the day, with the competition starting at 10am and ending at 3pm.

The prize giving ceremony takes place at 3.30pm.

Refreshments are available throughout the day as well as displays from associated groups.

We hear that a huge range of prizes will be on offer with a very special award for the best laid hedge using only hand tools.

Listen to a podcast from last year’s winner, Paul Davis
