Having received the statement from IWC Chief Exec, Steve Beynon, that starts “The council has not told Mark that he must either resign his job, or stand down as a candidate,” we called Mark Chiverton and Geoff Lumley, his agent for comment.

Geoff called back a short while later, and below you can listen to the conversation that we had.

In it he says that statement by Steve Beynon’s was “Entirely wrong,” going on to explain that Mark had a meeting just over a week ago, where “he was very clearly told that that was the expectation.”

Emails seen
He goes on to say that he had seen emails between Mark and the HR manager at Country Hall where he quotes what was said between the two of them in a meeting, where Mark says he was told to Resign his job, or Stand-down as a candidate – she does not refute any of the quotes in her response. Geoff calls it “Pretty conclusive evidence.”

One point we raise was related to Pat N comment, “If this is the case why didn’t David Pugh deny it on the radio?,” referring to his appearance on Vectis Radio early today.

Andrew Turner’s comment also comes up.
