Southern Vectis Buses: All Services Currently Suspended
Tuesday, 5th January, 2010 at 9:48 pm, Isle of Wight
Bus, Island-wide, Newport, News
Just had an update from Southern Vectis.
Not surprisingly with the weather being as it is in Newport, SV have suspended their services.
They tell us that a number of their vehicles are stuck on the road. They’re attempting to maintain contact with them to check that SV staff and passengers are okay. The emergency services are aware of the situation.
Some people who have been trying to get home from Newport, but that have been unable to leave due to the delayed buses, are stuck there, but will be housed in Newport Bus Station travel centre.

I got a bus today and think SV have done a great job getting going again. Well done them and staff. In my opinion the council have done a terrible job with the roads. The gritters seem to have gone missing, major roads to and from Newport, West Wight, Ryde seem totally ignored for three days now. Someone should get sacked for this. It’s simply not good enough. Only lorries, buses, 4×4 drivers have kept the main roads usable by driving on them. This country doesn’t seem able to do a single thing right. We’re pathetic.
