Let It Snow: Auntie P’s Snow Gallery (updated)

Tuesday, 5th January, 2010 at 10:54 pm, Isle of Wight

Newport, News, Photography

VB Flickr Group member and friend of the blog, AuntieP, has been busy with her camera tonight, taking shots during her travels around Newport.

Let It Snow: Auntie P's Snow GalleryWe love the shot of the policeman below.

It was heart-warming to hear that the Church on the Roundabout and the Medina Centre were offering hot cups of tea to stranded Islanders.

If you have any snow pics you want to share with our readers, so get in touch.

I sneaked back to the West Wight turning left at the lights at Shalfleet then via Wellow and Wilmingham. With the Middle and Yarmouth roads blocked it looks like I was lucky to get home.

Ed G – thanks for this little detour tip, I used it successfully this morning to get from Freshwater to Newport (to pick up my wife who was stuck in Newport overnight) and back at 11am today. No hills (or slight inclines!) and no traffic ahead of you to stop your momentum – perfect. :)

If I hadn`t seen your post this morning I would more than likely be stuck on the Yarmouth Road! Thank you, thank you.

VentnorBlog – if anyone, like me, has been thinking that they should really donate some funds to the running of VB but never have actually ‘got round’ to it well… I think the service you`ve provided here and on Twitter last night and today has been so so invaluable that it’s time we all ‘get round’ to parting with some cash!

I was truly shocked when I tuned in to isle of wight fm this evening – up until about 2030 it was great, news and travel updates. At 2030 – some geezer just starts spouting about local bands and no mention of the snow at all! Come on IW Radio – less recorded DJ’s and more updates.

I’m off to Wave 105 – who even for a mainland station seem to have more info that isle of wight fm!

Isle of Wight radio were great at 7am, for about ten minutes, telling us what schools were closed and the buses weren’t running. After that it was like over excited schoolboys records and adverts. I tuned to Solent and kept updated here. Well done VB.
