Four New Year’s Honours For The Isle of Wight

Each year the New Year’s Honours List is published, not surprisingly at the turning of the New Year.

Grand Cross - OBEThis year there are four people connected to the Isle of Wight that have been honoured.

Richard Edward Priest, the Chief Executive of the Riverside Centre in Newport, has been bestowed with the honour of an OBE (Officer of the Order of the British Empire) for services to the community.

MBEs too
Ian Davis, resident of Bembridge, has become a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) for services to the House of Commons. He holds the office of the Trainbearer at Speaker House and received praise back on 17 June 2009 from Michael Martin as he was departing his role as Mr Speaker.

Terence Harris, known more widely as Jet Harris, originally from the days with formerly of The Shadows, has also received an MBE for services to Music. (He also contributed a track to each of the two Transitions CDs).

Mrs Jean Marion Anne Hedley’s MBE is for voluntary service to Nature Conservation in Hampshire and the Isle of Wight. She works with the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust.

Congratulations to all of them – bet they’ll all be celebrating New Year’s Eve with that little extra bit of enthusiasm.
