But, I think she has no choice but to resign. How can you be Chairman of the council's scrutiny committee, when you yourself been found in breach of the code of conduct rules for councillors? Some people will see this as 'settling old scores', (I'd guess these two don't run a mutual appreciation society.) I also assume some minor fireworks at County Hall this evening - but tough old bird as she is, Cllr Churchman surely has to go, as she did from the Tory group. As Wendy says, it's for the Chairman to draw the issue of resignation to the attention of Cllr Churchman. Cllr Pugh, I suspect, will urge his group tonight to vote against Cllr Churchman. Remember this is all about a storm in a teacup which some have said was intended to affect the last election. It would appear that this councillor did not follow the rules, or at least that is what the (non-party) panel decided, and that has brought the Council into disrepute. Are you saying that because she is in a different party to the leader he should do nothing about it? We keep hearing on this blog how great it would be for less party politics in local government, and here everyone seems to want more of it.
