Cllr Churchman Resigns as Chair of Scrutiny Committee

Cllr Vanessa Churchman this afternoon informed council leader, David Pugh that she would stand down as chair of the Overview and Scrutiny Committee.

Rumour: David Pugh Pressures Cllr Churchman Over Scrutiny ChairThe council leader wrote to Cllr Churchman yesterday afternoon asking her to stand down as chair of the committee following the result of the Standards Board hearing.

Cllr Churchman expressed her disappointment at having to stand down as chair as she had been re-elected to the Council and voted in unanimously as Chair of O & S at Full Council earlier in the year.

She also express her disappointment at the ruling group’s lack of support for her.
