Seat-Gate: Queues Outside County Hall Early This Morning
Friday, 20th November, 2009 at 5:15 pm, Isle of Wight
Green Issues, Island-wide, News, Planning
Following the realisation yesterday that Island anti-wind turbine group ThWART had received leaked information about the time and location of the upcoming planning meeting, we’ve had reports of queues of people outside County Hall this morning looking to register for the meeting. All of this in advance of the rest of the Island officially hearing they the need to register for the meeting.
At just after mid-day today, the IW Council issued a press release letting the media know the official dates and how to reserve a place.
We’ve asked them for details of the number of seats that have have already been reserved, before those who have previously expressed an opinion to the council heard about it.
We’re still waiting for that figure. Further details of the leak to follow.

Some of the people most likely to want to be at the planning committee meeting on 3 December, to encourage the Councillors to support the Cheverton wind turbine application, were busy elsewhere on the first day that bookings officially opened.
They were at Cowes Yacht Haven. A clue, for those who remember what happened there on 26 March last year http://ventnorblog.com/2008/03/25/eco-island-conference-tomorrow/.
Several of the Isle of Wight Council’s finest officers were there.
But strangely, unless I missed something, not a single member of the Planning Committee could be seen.
Which is a pity, because they missed a chance to benefit from the Institution of Civil Engineers http://www.ice.org.uk, who’d organised some world-class speakers on climate change and engineering…

‘Climate change’ a fact. Man made climate change, a long way from being fact.
Without any doubt, wind turbines mostly make
lots of…. MONEY!
