Waiting Game At Adjudication Panel
Thursday, 19th November, 2009 at 5:02 pm, Isle of Wight
Isle of Wight Council, News, Ryde
Leader of the Isle of Wight council, David Pugh, has been waiting to present information to the Adjudication Panel since 9:15 this morning.
We went up to Ryde to have a listen to the proceedings examining the allegations against three IW councillors – they’re normally open to the public – only to find that today, the meeting has been held In Camera (private sessions only).
Cllr Pugh had been caught out by the same, but needed to stay there just in case he was called.
Have no fear dear Islanders, he was able to continue to Lead the council, powered by not just one, but two Blackberries!
Any around tomorrow?
If anyone is near Ryde tomorrow and fancies going along to have a listen to the sessions (which should be open to the public) and tell us what goes on, drop us an email – we’d really appreciate it.

Ah, the blackberry season…..
We call them brimbles where I come from but in Devon we learned English as a foreign language.

As Dylan Thomas said,’As a Celt I speak three languages: BBC 3rd Programme; Public Bar; Saloon Bar. When appropriate.’

Not sure driver57 is talking about you Pinky

What a rude and uncalled for remark driver57.
It sounds as though it would have been a thoroughly frustrating day for anyone sitting waiting to be called in to give evidence.

I couldn’t agree more Karen. And I spend most of my time making criticisms of Cllr Pugh and his Council administration.

I’m with you two. David Pugh looked pretty fed up at having to wait around all day, but he understood the need to. I have a great deal of sympathy for him.

and he had an important Shanklin Town Council meeting to be at at 4.30….he was still waiting in Ryde at 6

pretty convenient excuse for him to get out of meeting.

Is anyone important enough to carry and use TWO blackberries? I sympathise with anyone forced to hang around court all day – even a toothless kangeroo court like this one.

You think it’s stressful for Mr Pugh. What about the poor councillors caught up in these the allegations. They have been waiting for 2 and half years.
This whole thing is a waste of tax payers money.

See you scooped the county press again.

Why on earth is the session in camera? What national security issue is at stake here? Who are these people in the adjudication panel that they think they can dispense justice – some kind of latter day Star Chamber? They are not even a proper court – just some Nu-labour rubbish.
