Ash Show What The Winter Gardens Can Be (Photos)

Thursday, 19th November, 2009 at 3:42 pm, Isle of Wight

Music, News, Opinion Piece, Photography, Ventnor

It was great seeing Ventnor’s Winter Gardens so vibrant on Tuesday night for the sold-out Ash gig.

Ash Show What The Winter Gardens Can BePacked full of people, there was a real buzz about the place. Thinking back on it, it’s the first time for a long time that we’ve been down there to a capacity crowd.

The support band, Panama Kings hit the stage giving it their all – as if they were playing a huge stadium venue. Loads of energy.

The opening number by Ash was an amazing explosion of energy. Quite a way to open your show. Clearly playing to an appreciative audience, Ash did a great job of pleasing the crowd.

Wide variety of people
It was really interesting to note that most of the audience on the night weren’t from Ventnor, so people from all over the Island and beyond made their way down to the Winter Gardens … on a Tuesday … with a gale blowing.

Just goes to show that with the right show how successful the Winter Gardens can be. Long may it last.

Here’s a few shots that we grabbed, only on a mobile, so the quality isn’t fab, but gives you an idea of how busy it was.

I saw The Blues Band play there in the Summer. The place was rammed as well then, a great atmosphere. Mr. Perks and his team do a great job with minimum resources.

    A success!
    yep :)
    Of course!

I would love to see the day when the Winter Gardens is on the list of tour dates as Southsea’s Pyramid & Wedgewood rooms. Both btw nearly half the size (ESPecially the Wedgewoods) – so basically a perfect venue and truly something not just wanted but needed (without the inherent problems that pubs may attribute to).
Perfect for the 18- to 80 ‘ravers’

    So why not? :)

A place to go every weekend!!
that Isn’t a pub or a club (with questionable DJ’s, not all venues i hastely add!!! but maybe the better known. no names.

1 can dream of seeing bands of [b]either[b/] new, up and coming or national+ fame artists weekly rather than F/Bestival yearly.
At a price that most can afford not only afford financially but in time aswell unlike said (great line up mind) yearlys.

I’ll not hold my breath but with artists appearing more and more, i’d better start dusting off my Saturday Night Fever disco armour and prepare?

Peace to all you lot that know me as Turk or DT :P
