2009 Business Awards for Excellence: Who Is On The ShortlistThe shortlisted contenders for the 2009 Business Awards for Excellence have been announced and in just over two weeks time, the winners will be taking to the stage at a grand awards ceremony to collect their awards.

There are eleven categories in total, as well as awards earmarked for the Business of the Year, Chamber Member of the Year, and Business Person of the Year.

So who’s on the lucky shortlist
New Business Award (sponsored by NatWest) – Gardenia Florists, Whitefield Tourist Park, Wightquote;

Retail and Service Industry Award (HTP) – Gardenia Florists, ICR Touch, Real Island Food Company;

Professional and Business Services Award (Isle of Wight County Press) – Crossprint, ICR Touch, Wightquote;

IW Lottery Small Business Award (Lloyds TSB) – Betapak, ICR Touch, IW Steam Railway;

International Business Award (UKTI) – Milmega, Strainstall, Vikoma;

Green Business Award (Southern Vectis) – Crossprint, Etetra, Really Green Holiday Company;

Employee Development Award (Wightlink) – Betapak, Strainstall, The Island Day Nursery;

Business in the Community (Red Funnel Distribution) – IW Steam Railway, Southern Vectis, WP Recruitment;

Manufacturing and Technology Award (Inflight Peripherals) – ICR Touch, Strainstall, Vikoma;

Tourism and Leisure Award (GoWight) – IW Steam Railway, Seaview Wildlife Encounter, Vintage Vacations;

Accommodation and Hospitality Award (Red Funnel Holidays) – IW Luxury Apartments, Parterre Apartments, Really Green Holiday Company.

    isn’t it a bit of the same old same old… great and the good an all that. I’m in business on the Island and work with a number of other fantastic businesses (some of which I would rate as the best the Island has to offer) who are never short-listed in the Chamber awards? I guess you have to be a member to be considered? Guess I am in the ironic club of Groucho Marx members… ‘I would not want to belong to any club that would have me as a member’ ;-)
