Ryde Interchange Cancellation: The Architect’s View

As we know, after many years of planning and negotiation, the Isle of Wight Council recently made the decision to cancel the Ryde Interchange.
The bible for Architects – The Architects’ Journal – has today published a piece with the reaction to the cancellation by the Architect of the site, Marks Barfield, who also designed the world-famous London Eye.
While outlining the IWC frustration with the complexities surrounding the project, they have a quote from the Marks Barfield associate Ian Crockford, who told the AJ: ‘We had put four years of work into the project and to see it scuppered at the last minute is a huge shame.’

The Council spokesperson seems to confirm, in the article, that the Council has problems when dealing with complexities.

So Network Rail own most the land…maybe that should have been found out before commissioning an expensive London architect?
Well, someone made money out of the exercise.
