I feel great sympathy for Michael. Theft in my opinion, is a vile act. Whilst people work their socks off to make an honest living, others have no conscience about taking someone elses property without any thought for the consequences, financially or emotionally, of their victims.Their punishment, if found or cuaght should be as harsh as for physical assault., if not worse. All theft is premeditated. These people could be drinking with you tonight unbeknown to you and displaying a facade of normality. On a much lesser scale I have now lived in Ventnor for 6 months and last weekend, both mine and my neighbours gardens had plants stolen from them, and now our sleepy safe little road seems to have been violated, as we wonder what will be next. In some ways this is just as serious as it shatters the illusion of having honest, and supposedly nice people living near us when they can stoop to such a low level that they consider such actions to be " acceptable " Sadly these recent incidents have made us rethink our attitude to security, and our revisit our relaxed attitude to life in Ventnor. A sad indictment of the times we live in.
