St Mary’s Orthopaedic Nurse Receives Award
Wednesday, 28th October, 2009 at 5:06 pm, Isle of Wight
Congratulations to Specialist Orthopaedic Nurse, Clare-Louise Sandell who we hear has been awarded the 2009 Treloar and Gauvain Memorial Fund Prize for the ‘most promising orthopaedic nurse’ in the South East of England.
The award recognises significant contributions to orthopaedic nursing and Clare-Louise’s commitment to her patients and their after-care convinced the judges that she should receive the award this year.
Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon Mr Nigel Hobbs said during the presentation: “I am so impressed by Clare Louise’s dedication, her loyalty to the orthopaedic service, her colleagues and most importantly the patients. Clare-Louise demonstrates in everything she does that it’s all about the patients!”
Speaking after the presentation Clare-Louise said: “I am pleased to receive the award but none of what I have achieved would have been possible without the support of the team I work with. The contribution of everyone from support staff to clinicians and managers and including patients to the work of the orthopaedic department makes it such an innovative and fantastic place to work.”
Well done Clare-Louise, you’ve made the Island and your patients very proud.

Congratulations Margaret, very well deserved – I think all the staff at our local hospital are wonderful. I know, because I am never away from the place:-)
